Microneedling has been investigated in clinical research on androgenetic alopecia.
In a 2013 randomized evaluator-blinded study involving 100 participants, researchers compared weekly 1.5 mm microneedling plus 5% minoxidil against 5% topical minoxidil alone for 12 weeks.
